For law firms

Law Office

Available now

Matters, time, billing and trust accounting on one account.

Rather be shown than sign up? Ask, and we will walk you through the app on a call and answer as we go. It is booked by email — we do not embed a scheduling widget.

A diagram of how Law Office is laid out — its real navigation groups beside a working screen. It is a drawing, not a screenshot, and the rows are deliberately blank: we will not publish invented records dressed up as a real system.

Law Office is practice management software: the firm's matters, the clients and parties attached to them, the time recorded against them, and the bills that come out of it — kept in one system rather than spread across folders, spreadsheets and mailboxes.

It also carries the part a firm cannot get wrong. Money held in trust is tracked on its own ledger with double-entry bookkeeping, trust requests are recorded against the matter they belong to, and bank accounts are reconciled against transactions rather than against a spreadsheet kept alongside them.

The work starts where the work starts: a conflict check before a matter opens, a timer in the header while you are in a file, and the record of what was done sitting on the matter afterwards.

It runs on the same account, the same organisation and the same sign-in as every other CloudVersa app, so a person you add to the firm once can be given whichever apps their role needs.

Law Office is live on the platform and can be installed from the marketplace as soon as your organisation exists. Your firm signs in with the same CloudVersa account it uses for every other app.

Who this is for

Law Office is built for a particular kind of desk.

If none of these is you, it is probably the wrong app — and we would rather say so here than after you have set it up.

Small and mid-sized firms

You are large enough that matters, time and trust cannot live in a spreadsheet, and small enough that you do not want a system that needs an administrator to run it.

Firms that hold money in trust

You need the trust ledger, the requests against it and the reconciliation to the bank to be the same record, not three that have to agree.

Whoever does the billing

You turn recorded time and expenses into bills, and you would rather that came out of the file than out of everyone's memory at month end.

The person answerable for the file

You want to see what has happened on a matter, who did it and when, without asking three people.

What it covers

Inside Law Office

Matters and conflict checks

A file per matter with the parties, the dates and the current position on it — and a conflict check before the matter is opened, not after.

Time, expenses and bills

Time and disbursements recorded against the matter as the work happens, and bills drawn from that record rather than reconstructed at month end.

Trust accounting and reconciliation

Trust requests against the matter, bank accounts and transactions in the same system, and reconciliations done against the record rather than beside it.

Every screen

The whole of Law Office, not the highlights.

These are the app's own sections and the 16 screens inside them — the same names you will see in the navigation once you are signed in.

Clients and matters

Dashboard
What the firm is carrying today, and what is waiting on someone.
Matters
A file per matter, with the parties, the dates and the current position visible on the matter itself.
Contacts
Clients, opposing parties and everyone else on a file — recorded against the matter rather than remembered.
Conflict checks
A check against what the firm already holds before a matter is opened, with the result kept as part of the file.

Scheduling

Calendar
Dates that matter to a file, in the same system as the file they matter to.
Tasks
What has to be done on a matter, assigned to the person who has to do it.

Records

Documents
The file's documents, attached to the matter instead of to a folder that someone has to find.
Communications
What was said, to whom and when — kept on the matter as part of its history.

Billing

Time and expenses
Recorded against a matter as the work happens, with a timer in the header for the file you are in.
Bills
Bills drawn from the time and expenses already on the matter, rather than assembled separately.
Trust requests
Money moving in or out of trust, requested and recorded against the matter it belongs to.

Accounting

Bank accounts
The firm's accounts, including trust, held in the system that holds the matters they relate to.
Transactions
What moved, when, and against which matter — the double-entry ledger behind the balances.
Reconciliations
The account reconciled against its transactions, as a step the system supports rather than a spreadsheet kept alongside it.

Oversight

Reports
What the firm is doing and where it stands, pulled from the matters and the ledger themselves.
Settings
How the firm operates — its details, its people and its defaults, set once for everyone.

Before you install

What we would rather you heard from us.

Every product page is written by someone who wants you to buy it. These are the parts that argue the other way, and they are here on purpose.

  • Meeting your law society's rules is still yours

Law Office is a tool for trust bookkeeping and reconciliation, not advice about it. The obligations your law society places on you — what you must record, how often you must reconcile, what you must be able to produce — remain the firm's to meet. We will not tell you the software discharges them.

Pricing

What Law Office costs

The organisation account is free. Law Office is priced per seat — you pay for the people you give it to, and nobody else.

The organisation is free

Creating your company on the platform costs nothing, whether or not you install an app. There is no platform fee and no bundle to buy.

Each app is priced per seat

You give an app to the people who need it, and each of those is a seat. A company of forty with six people in an app pays for six.

Every app has its own plans

An app sets its own tiers, because what separates them differs by app — a document volume in one, a part of the product in another. The marketplace shows you the plan before you install anything.

Prices are quoted, not published

What a seat costs and what each tier includes depends on the app and on how your firm is set up, so we would rather tell you than have you work it out from a table that is still moving.

30-day trial, then a plan. Installing Law Office starts the trial: the whole app, for your whole organisation, with no card required to begin it. When the 30 days are up you choose a plan. Until you do, the app stops opening — everything created during the trial is kept and is still there when a plan is chosen.

Prices are quoted, not published. What a seat costs and what each plan includes depends on the app and on how your firm is set up, so we would rather tell you than have you work it out from a table. Ask us what it would cost and a person will answer.

Fair use applies. A seat is priced for one person doing their job. If an organisation’s use is well beyond what its seats would normally produce, we talk to you first and agree a plan that fits — with 30 days’ notice before anything changes. Read the fair use policy.

Questions

What people ask about Law Office

Does Law Office do trust accounting?

Yes. Trust requests are recorded against the matter they belong to, the firm's bank accounts and their transactions are held in the same system with double-entry bookkeeping, and reconciliations are done against that record. Meeting your law society's specific obligations remains the firm's to do — the software is a tool for that work, not advice about it.

Can we run conflict checks before opening a matter?

Yes. Conflict checks are a screen in the clients and matters section, run against what the firm already holds, and the result is kept as part of the file.

Is there a timer for recording time?

Yes — a matter timer sits in the header while you are working in a file, and time and expenses are recorded against the matter as the work happens rather than reconstructed later.

Can we install Law Office today?

Yes. Law Office is live on the platform and can be installed from the marketplace once your organisation exists. The organisation account is free to create, and Law Office starts with a 30-day trial.

What does Law Office cost?

The organisation account is free. Law Office is priced per seat, and every app starts with a 30-day trial. What the plans include, and what a seat costs, is quoted rather than published — ask us and we will tell you where it stands for your firm.

Do we need a separate login for each app?

No. That is the point of the platform. A person is added to your organisation once and signs in at accounts.cloudversa.io for every CloudVersa app they have been given. Removing them removes their access everywhere.

Can we get our data back out?

Yes. The information your organisation puts into an application stays yours. If you stop using CloudVersa, ask us and we will give you a copy of your data in a reasonable format before it is removed — that is written into the terms of use, not left to goodwill.

Something not answered here? Ask us — a person reads it.

Free tools from the same work.

These do one calculation Law Office does as part of the job. No sign-up, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

  • Trust reconciliation worksheet

A three-way reconciliation: the adjusted bank balance, the trust ledger and the sum of the client ledgers, checked against each other to the cent.

Coming off a spreadsheet?

Most firms moving to Law Office are not leaving a competitor — they are leaving a spreadsheet, a shared drive and an inbox. We have written down where each of those stops, what a move involves, and how to get your data back out again.
